What is Peripheral Artery Disease? (PAD)

PAD is a disease that causes the arteries in the body to become clogged or narrow, causing less blood to flow to the legs and feet. Black Americans are twice as likely to have PAD and are more likely to lose a limb because of it. Amputations can often be postponed or avoided when treatment is provided right away.

Common Symptoms of PAD

+ Painful cramping in the hips, thighs, or calves when walking, climbing stairs or working out

+ Wounds on the foot or toe that won’t heal or heal very slowly
